Why software video is its own craft.

A SaaS product is a screen and an idea. Film the screen and you get a screen recording. Explain the idea and you get a slide deck with a voiceover. The job is to make the idea visible: the risk, the workflow, the thing that used to take a week and now takes a click.

The buyer is technical and busy. A VP of engineering or a security lead will close the tab the moment a video oversimplifies or waves its hands at how it works. We write for that person: specific, accurate, and still clear enough for the CFO who signs.

And the product will change next quarter. We design the UI in the video as a system, so a new release means a frame swap, not a new video.

Spyderbat: Attack Tracing and InterceptSpyderbat · SaaS explainer

A chasm exists between threat detection and response. It's defined by the manual effort required to triage and investigate security alerts. Its depth is measured by alert volume. Its width is measured by the time required to thoroughly investigate them. There are too many alerts. We rely on priority to sort what gets our attention. Existing tools only detect individual symptoms, requiring manual expertise to determine the full picture and root cause. In our investigations, we struggle to retrace the attack under enormous time pressure and constraints. This combination of alert volume and manual effort creates a constant state of anxiety. What did I miss?

What if we could bridge the chasm with a new approach? One that instantly illuminates false positives, catches would-be false negatives, and accurately spots emerging attacks. An approach that radically reduces alert volume and compresses investigation time. This is Spyderbat Attack Tracing and Intercept. A key to ATI is the operations plane. The operations plane proactively links causal connections between ground-truth activities. Causal connections exist within and across systems over potentially long periods of time. Using your existing threat detection systems such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, or cloud-based protection, security information is layered on the operations plane, illuminating false positives and credible attacks. Enriched context such as threat intelligence, cloud tags, and suspicious activities adds color to the attacker's path.

Fused together, the operations plane links seemingly disparate security events and benign activity into a live trace of the attack. Attack traces present a clear, accurate, and complete depiction of all causally connected steps leading to and following a security alert. This instant, clear view enables immediate intercept and complete eradication of the attack. Spyderbat's game-changing Attack Tracing and Intercept is fast, accurate, complete. Intercept the attack with Spyderbat ATI. No longer worry about what is missing. To see Spyderbat ATI in action, go to spyderbat.com.

JetPackED explainerJetPackED · SaaS explainer

Digital learning programs are now as common as textbooks in schools across our country. Three out of four schools nationwide are using digital programs to support student learning. The average school has access to anywhere from 40 to 60 online learning programs, but teachers are losing hours of valuable time sifting through mountains of data for every student. And let's be honest, no one has time for that.

I had to surf through every dashboard for every online program that my class uses just to understand what my kids accomplished that day. It was too time-consuming, so I only end up using like two programs, if that. We used to use online learning programs, but honestly it just felt like a way to fill time, and it felt completely separate from our instruction.

We shouldn't waste our teachers' time or our students' potential. And now we don't have to. Introducing JetPackED, a data platform that empowers teachers to personalize support for each and every student in a fraction of the time. What once took hours now takes minutes. This first-of-its-kind platform equips teachers to regularly evaluate student progress across multiple programs in one spot; identify when students are stuck and require extra support, are ready for more of a challenge, or simply need to get offline after their just-right dosage is completed. It also recommends student groupings for interventions, and school leaders and administrators use daily data to identify ways to better customize their coaching and professional development support for each teacher. JetPackED's student portal shows learners the daily progress and weekly goals they are working towards, which builds student agency and ownership of their learning. JetPackED sends parents an automated student progress report twice per week via text or email. This helps parents understand their child's learning goals, provide at-home support to complete those goals, and celebrate their success.

I didn't become a teacher to sit behind a computer and crunch data. I teach because I care about my students. I love seeing them grow and get one step closer to their goals, and JetPackED gives me more time and tools to do that. JetPackED makes it really easy to celebrate students, classes, and entire grade levels, and this brings a huge amount of joy to students, because they see that they've achieved their goals and they're really bringing it for their entire class.

Swimlane: phishing responseSwimlane · Cybersecurity explainer

We all start small. An idea becomes a business, and that business grows into an enterprise. Strong, profitable, built to last. But with great power comes great vulnerability. The average organization faces over 10,000 new security alarms every day, and the complexity and volume frequently overwhelms the analysts tasked with stopping them. Current IR processes make analysts manually navigate multiple specialized platforms to identify, respond to, and document every threat. These processes are inefficient and difficult to learn, and lead to unresolved or unseen alerts. The potential for human error is high. But the problem is not your staff, it's your system.

Swimlane delivers a better, more accurate solution through security automation and orchestration that adapts to fit the people, processes, and technologies you already have in place. It easily integrates with other systems and adapts over time to keep up with the pace of IT innovation. An easily customized, intuitive interface allows you to simplify administrative tasks without sacrificing flexibility.

Your team's ability to rapidly respond to an incident is critical, and no viable threat is too small to investigate. Phishing is one of the most common methods of infiltration because it's both effective and simple to execute, and most security operations are dependent on a growing combination of tools and manual processes to detect, research, and respond to the daily flood of potential attacks. This exhausts personnel, wastes precious time, and leads to costly mistakes.

Swimlane drastically reduces resolution times while minimizing the potential for error by automating significant portions of the incident response process. This includes steps like submitting data to threat intelligence platforms for analysis, submitting attachments to a sandboxing platform for additional inspection, and quarantining infected devices and notifying impacted users. By typically automating as much as 80 to 90% of an IR workflow, Swimlane drastically increases the response capacity of your SOC without adding overhead.

At its core, cybersecurity is driven by high-value expert analysis. Burdening your security team with manual tasks like copying and pasting evidence, sending email notifications, and opening trouble tickets leads to slow response times, inconsistent investigations, and unresolved alerts. Through automation and orchestration, Swimlane equips your SOC for maximum efficiency and ROI. Protecting your business may not be simple, but it can be a lot easier.

Curable Groups: a customer storyCurable · Testimonial video

Laura Seago, co-founder of Curable: Hi, I'm Laura Seago and I'm one of the co-founders of Curable. I cannot wait for you to experience Curable Groups. To explain more about Curable Groups, I have brought with me two of the experts you could be working with in the program, Jane Risley and Allison Akhnoukh. Allison, one of the really unique things about the Curable Groups program is that it combines three different, very powerful approaches. You have this group healing aspect, expert support, and what we call guided introspection. Why is it that you think that addressing recovery from all of these angles is so important?

Allison Akhnoukh: So all the best practice in education right now is pointing towards what we call a flipped learning model. And what that means is you have the opportunity to digest high-quality content on your own, do some exercises to reflect against that, and then come together in a small group setting to continue to solidify your learning. What's important to emphasize, however, is that all three pieces really need to work together. And when they do, it's very powerful.

Laura Seago: As you both know, once someone joins the Curable Groups program, they're going to become a part of this tight-knit group of ten chronic pain sufferers who meet weekly to discuss their healing. And those groups are going to be joined by two expert facilitators, of which you are two. So, Jane, you've had experience with small groups in the past. What has that been like, and why do you think that this group setting is so effective for healing?

Jane Risley: I feel that small groups are an invaluable tool in the healing process. For ten years, I was the facilitator for small groups dealing with domestic violence and sexual assault. I saw so much healing going on in those rooms. So, when I decided to embark on a journey to heal my chronic pain, I actually sought out a model that would involve small groups. And I found it, and I was very successful with it and loved it.

Laura Seago: In addition to these small healing groups, everyone who participates in the program is going to have access to a monthly group session with one of Curable's advisory board physicians. Now, Jane, you had access to Dr. Strax, who is one of the physicians they will interact with during the program. What did having a credible physician involved in the process do for you?

Jane Risley: It was important to me to have a physician's seal of approval on the path I had chosen. It empowered me and gave me confidence in the process.

Laura Seago: So, we've gone over the group healing component and the expert support component. The only component we haven't really covered is this guided introspection. And that's going to come in the form of 90-minute video workshops that are designed to help people really dig deep and reflect on what's going on for them. You have both had a chance to experience these workshops on your own. Allison, what do you think these workshops are going to unlock for people?

Allison Akhnoukh: So, what's so fabulous about these workshops is that they really give you the time and a safe space, taking as much time as you need to really do the exercises and think about what's causing your pain. I also love the fact that you have access to them forever. So, they're always going to be part of your toolkit.

Laura Seago: And to all of the future members of Curable Groups out there, I just want to say welcome to the family. We all can't wait to sit beside you and see what kind of transformation this whole journey brings.

Questions

Before you ask.

How much does a SaaS explainer video cost?

Animated explainers are priced at $215 per finished second: about $13,000 for 60 seconds and $19,000 for 90, with script, storyboard, design, animation, voice, music, and revisions included. A 30-second teaser for paid social starts around $6,500. Filmed customer stories are quoted per shoot day plus post. Every quote is fixed after one discovery call.

Which SaaS and software companies have you made videos for?

KnowBe4 (the Human Risk Management platform launch film and KB4-CON), Spyderbat, Deque, Securonix, Swimlane, 10-4 Systems, and JetPackED, plus work with CloudBlue, Trimble, KOIOS, and Teespring. Security SaaS is our deepest bench; see the cybersecurity page.

Our product changes every sprint. How do you keep the video accurate?

We design the UI in the video as a system, not a screen recording: real layouts, simplified data, your components. When a screen changes, we swap the frame instead of reshooting. Most clients get two to three years out of an explainer this way, with a small refresh when the product has a big release.

Do you understand technical products?

We have explained SIEM, SOAR, accessibility testing, freight marketplaces, endpoint security, and human risk management to their actual buyers. You will not have to teach us what an API is. You will have to tell us what makes yours different, and we will make that the video.

Can we get versions for the website, ads, and sales from one project?

Yes, and you should. The 90-second cut goes on the homepage and demo page, a 30-second cut runs on paid social and pre-roll, a silent captioned cut works on LinkedIn, and sales gets the full version for follow-up emails. We plan the cutdowns at the script stage so every version was built on purpose.

Your product deserves better than a screen recording.

Tell us the product, the page it will live on, and the release date. We'll come back with a plan and a fixed quote within two business days.
